A specialty hospital, the licensed single-specialty or limited-specialty inpatient facility focused on a defined clinical discipline, represents the premium tier of Dubai's hospital market.¹
Specialty hospitals serve patients with complex or focused clinical needs, including oncology, cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, bariatric surgery, and other disciplines that benefit from concentrated expertise and dedicated infrastructure.
For operators, a specialty hospital offers premium positioning, strong referral networks, medical tourism pull, and higher per-patient revenue compared to general hospital models, within DHA regulatory and accreditation frameworks.²
That sustained demand for quality healthcare, specialist capacity, and population growth is exactly where the opportunity lies.
The UAE has positioned healthcare as a strategic priority under We the UAE 2031, with explicit targets for capacity expansion, quality, Emiratisation, and medical tourism.

8610.99 - Specialty Hospital
Under this activity, you are in the business of operating a licensed specialty hospital providing specialist inpatient medical, surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic services within the specialty discipline.
That covers inpatient specialty care, specialist surgical procedures, diagnostic services, and post-operative recovery, delivered under DHA licensing and quality standards.¹
There are some things this activity does not cover. General multi-specialty hospitals and other specialist hospitals fall under separate activity codes. Outpatient specialty clinics without inpatient beds are classified under clinic activity codes.
Standalone diagnostic laboratories and rehabilitation centres are also outside this scope.
In short: if you are operating a licensed specialty hospital with inpatient beds, you are in. If you are running an outpatient clinic, a general hospital, or a diagnostic lab, you are not.
