This class covers the operation of facilities and provision of services to meet cultural and entertainment interests, including the production, promotion and participation in live performances, events and exhibits for public viewing, and the provision of artistic, creative or technical skills for artistic products and live performances. Covers production of live theatrical presentations, concerts, opera and dance productions, circuses and other stage productions by groups, companies, orchestras, bands and individual artists including authors, actors, directors, musicians, lecturers, speakers, and stage-set designers and builders; operation of concert halls, theatres and other arts facilities; activities of sculptors, painters, cartoonists, engravers and etchers; activities of individual writers across all subjects including fiction and technical writing; activities of independent journalists; restoration of works of art such as paintings; and activities of producers and entrepreneurs of live arts events. Does not include motion picture and video production, operation of cinemas, activities of personal theatrical or artistic agents, casting activities, ticket agencies, operation of museums, sports and recreation activities, or restoration of furniture.

Library and Archives Activities

This class covers documentation and information activities of libraries of all kinds and public archives, including organisation and cataloguing of collections, lending and storage of books, maps, periodicals, films, records, tapes and works of art, retrieval activities to meet information requests, and the activities of reading, listening and viewing rooms. Also covers stock photo libraries and services.

Museums Activities and Operation of Historical Sites and Buildings

This class covers operation of museums of all kinds including art museums, museums of jewellery, furniture, costumes, ceramics and silverware; natural history, science and technology museums; historical and military museums; other specialised museums; and open-air museums. Also covers the operation of historical sites and buildings. Does not include renovation and restoration of historical sites and buildings, restoration of works of art and museum collection objects, or library and archive activities.

Botanical and Zoological Gardens and Nature Reserves Activities

This class covers operation of botanical and zoological gardens including children's zoos, and operation of nature reserves including wildlife preservation. Does not include landscape and gardening services, or operation of sport fishing and hunting preserves.

Operation of Sports Facilities

This class covers operation of facilities for indoor and outdoor sports events, with or without spectator seating, including football, hockey, cricket and baseball stadiums; racetracks for auto, dog and horse racing; swimming pools and stadiums; track and field stadiums; winter sports arenas; ice-hockey arenas; boxing arenas; golf courses; bowling lanes; and fitness centres. Also covers organisation and operation of sports events for professionals or amateurs by organisations with their own facilities. Does not include renting of recreation and sports equipment, operation of ski hills, or park and beach activities.

Activities of Sports Clubs

This class covers activities of sports clubs, whether professional, semi-professional or amateur, giving members the opportunity to engage in sporting activities. Covers football clubs, bowling clubs, swimming clubs, golf clubs, boxing clubs, body-building clubs, winter sports clubs, chess clubs, track and field clubs, shooting clubs and similar. Does not include sports instruction by individual teachers or trainers, operation of sports facilities, or organisation of sports events by clubs with their own facilities.

Other Sports Activities

This class covers activities of producers and promoters of sports events with or without facilities; activities of individual own-account sportsmen, athletes, referees, judges and timekeepers; activities of sports leagues and regulating bodies; promotion of sporting events; activities of racing stables, kennels and garages; operation of sport fishing and hunting preserves; activities of mountain guides; and support activities for sport or recreational hunting and fishing. Does not include breeding of racing horses, renting of sports equipment, activities of sport and game schools or sports instructors and coaches, or organisation of sports events by clubs.

Activities of Amusement Parks and Theme Parks

This class covers activities of amusement parks and theme parks, including operation of a variety of attractions such as mechanical rides, water rides, games, shows, theme exhibits and picnic grounds.

Other Amusement and Recreation Activities (n.e.c.)

This class covers activities of recreation parks and beaches including renting of bathhouses, lockers and chairs; operation of recreational transport facilities such as marinas; operation of ski hills; renting of leisure and pleasure equipment as an integral part of recreational facilities; operation of fairs and shows of a recreational nature; operation of discotheques and dance floors; operation of coin-operated games; and other amusement and recreation activities not elsewhere classified. Also includes activities of producers and entrepreneurs of live events other than arts or sports events. Does not include fishing cruises, provision of short-stay campground facilities, beverage serving in discotheques, trailer parks and campsites, separate renting of leisure equipment, or operation of coin-operated gambling machines.
