This activity covers the provision of accommodation typically on a daily or weekly basis for short-stay visitors, including furnished guest rooms, suites, and self-contained units with kitchens. It may include housekeeping, food and beverage services, parking, laundry, swimming pools, exercise rooms, recreational facilities, and conference facilities. It covers hotels, resort hotels, suite and apartment hotels, motels, guesthouses, pensions, bed and breakfast units, visitor flats, time-share units, holiday homes, chalets, youth hostels and mountain refuges. It does not include long-term rental accommodation on a monthly or annual basis.
Camping grounds, recreational vehicle parks and trailer parks
This activity covers the provision of accommodation in campgrounds, trailer parks, recreational camps, and fishing and hunting camps for short-stay visitors. It also includes provision of space and facilities for recreational vehicles, and protective shelters or bivouac facilities for placing tents and sleeping bags.
Other accommodation
This activity covers the provision of temporary or longer-term accommodation in single or shared rooms or dormitories for students, migrant or seasonal workers, and other individuals. It includes student residences, school dormitories, workers hostels, rooming and boarding houses, and railway sleeping cars.
Restaurants and mobile food service activities
This activity covers the provision of food services to customers whether seated or self-served, for consumption on premises, takeout or delivery. It includes restaurants, cafeterias, fast-food restaurants, pizza delivery, take-out eating places, ice cream truck vendors, mobile food carts, and food preparation in market stalls. It also includes restaurant and bar activities connected to transportation when carried out by separate units. It does not include concession operation of eating facilities.
Event catering and other food service activities
This activity covers catering activities for individual events or for a specified period of time, and the operation of food concessions at sports or similar facilities.
Event catering
This activity covers the provision of food services based on contractual arrangements with the customer, at the location specified by the customer, for a specific event. It does not include the manufacture or retail sale of perishable food items.
Other food service activities
This activity covers industrial catering based on contractual arrangements for a specific period of time, and the operation of food concessions at sports and similar facilities. It includes activities of food service contractors for transportation companies, operation of food concessions at sports facilities, and operation of canteens or cafeterias for factories, offices, hospitals or schools on a concession basis. It does not include the manufacture or retail sale of perishable food items.
Beverage serving activities
This activity covers the preparation and serving of beverages for immediate consumption on the premises. It includes bars, taverns, cocktail lounges, discotheques where beverage serving is predominant, beer parlours and pubs, coffee shops, fruit juice bars, and mobile beverage vendors. It does not include reselling packaged or prepared beverages, or the operation of discotheques and dance floors without beverage serving.
